Christmas Time

We can't believe 2010 is almost over. We had a great December- here are a few highlights.

We put up our Christmas tree & built our diaper box barricade.

We decorated the tree. Edison is so funny!

We met Santa & no one cried.

We stayed up late getting ready for Christmas morning.

And we opened way too many presents.

2010 was a great year. We've made a lot of good memories!

Here's hoping that 2011 will be even better.

We went on vacation!

We rode on an aiplane & behaved very well.

We saw something we rarely get to witness- sleeping babies. Our kids don't really sleep anywhere but their cribs- I guess long car rides in the sunshine can work magic.

We went to IKEA.We met our cousins.

We had a family reunion.
We hung out in the hotel.

We loved playing in the window seat.

It was the perfect place for peek a boo.

We came home & built a playhouse!

Maybe someday these kids will realize how spoiled they are!

I'm pretty sure that the apple cinnamon puffs do NOT belong in the wipes container.

We've been having a lot of fun playing outside.

We've been up to Driggs a few times for some mini vacations.

Brian thought it would be a good idea to teach them to climb the fireplace. Mama doesn't approve.

We've discovered that Ginger LOVES fresh salsa. They all do really, but I think its Ginger's favorite food in the whole world. That or blueberries- it might be a tie.

Edison loves pesto & Daisy loves blue cheese crumbled. We don't think there is any question that they belong to us.

Our Mr Man- update

Edison has had to have 2 neurosurgeries this past month. His first was on May 27th for an obstructed catheter in his shunt. The second was on June 27th for an obstructed valve in his shunt. We were trying to vacation in Yellowstone so he had a very expensive life flight to SLC. Needless to say, we've been a little preoccupied, so please forgive us for being MIA lately. He is doing very well & hopefully his new set up will last him a long time. He is one tough little guy!

The girls started walking while we were gone for his first surgery. They had been taking steps for a long time but decided to start walking full time. They like to follow each other around giggling- its very cute!

Projects!!!

Brian had a couple of weeks off so instead of going on vacation (which is incredibly complicated with 3 babies) we decided to do some home improvement projects.

We painted our living room & dining room. I really needed a change since I spent approximately 12 hours a day in this room.

Thanks Grandma & Grandpa Wood for watching the babies while we worked!!

Brian & his dad, also, baby proofed the deck so we can live outside this summer (if it ever shows up for good). We got them a slide, a bubble panel, a tic tac toe panel, and lots of other stuff for them to play with. Some neighborhood teenagers walked by & proclaimed our deck to be "sweet" so I think we did a good job!

Edison was chillin while Daddy & Grandpa worked.

We got the babies a water table & they love it!

They like the teeter totter, but sometimes try to jump off with no warning.

We got them a little slide but they aren't completely sure about it yet.

Edison learned a new skill & has started stacking everything. He, also, likes to match like colors together & will go around the room collecting red, or blue, or yellow cups to put them together. We were told that 40% of children with bleeds have long term disabilities, so we are very proud that he is doing so well!

These girls are such a team. They love each other so much & we love them!

13 Months Old!!

We can't believe its been almost a year since our sweet babies came home from the NICU. The fact that we have 3 beautiful healthy babies is TRUELY amazing! Its a lot of work but we wouldn't trade it for anything.

Its always so cute to see 3 babies lined up in a row. We never get tired of it!

Our New Triplet Feeding Table

Check out our new triplet feeding table. This thing is awesome & we probably should have built it months ago. We special ordered some cool vintage replica Formica to go with the seats we received for Christmas, & Brian and Kent spent most of the day Saturday building the table.

We love it & so do the kids! Its a great way to feed them & a good place to play.

Thanks to Grandma & Grandpa Jensen for the cool Formica & to Grandma & Grandpa Wood for the great drop in seats. A special thanks to Kent & Brian for building the table with love.

We were in the middle of changing the babies the other day when Daisy & Ginger took off. We found them in the bathroom like this. I guess Daisy really wanted to take a bath.

The babies were getting to know themselves in the mirror. The girls weren't all that interested (I guess they are used to seeing a duplicate) but Edison was very interested. I think sometimes he wishes he had a twin too.

Edison is getting his 2 top front teeth. Ginger has 1 bottom tooth coming in & our little vampire Daisy looks like she is going to get her canines first. Hopefully some of her other teeth won't be far behind.

We tried to do a mini photo shoot for their birthday. Its really hard to get all three happy at the same time.

Edison is obviously happier when he doesn't have to share with his sisters.

No- not with Santa. Clearly we hate him.

We're in LOVE with our new ABC Adventure Buggy Triple Pram!!!!!

We have been patiently (well, not so patiently) awaiting its arrival since ordering it exactly one month ago. I knew it was schelduled to arrive today & I was so excited I could barely sleep.
It was a breeze to put together- basically we just had to put the wheels on & add the 3rd seat on top. No tools were required & it only took about 5 minutes to completely unpack it & put it together.

It came with all sorts of accessories to keep the bugs, rain, & hands off of the babies. (bug netting pictured)

We were so excited we took it out for a test run at the mall today. Only 2 people noticed that we had triplets instead of twins (or at least only 2 commented to us). It certainly did not get the same attention as the side by side, but another mother did stop us to talk about the stroller- "That's great! What brand is it? Where can I get one?" It handled like a dream & I could even push it with one hand- which is kind of unheard of with a triplet stroller.

I'm totally sold on this stroller. It is very well made & I'm sure will last us forever & hopefully even have some re-sale value. I wish I had bought it a year ago (although I might not appreciate it as much if I'd never had to pick up the side by side & go through a door sideways). It was worth every penny!

And for the who's whos???- Daisy is in front.... or is it the other way around. No, no- I'm pretty sure it's Daisy.

We built a little barricade around our Christmas tree with phony presents. They are really just our disposable diaper stash. The boxes are heavy enough to be stable & the kids haven't mastered climbing over things this tall yet. Its working pretty good so far.

A little game of "who's who" for all the people who think they can tell them apart. The truth is they are very much identical- their personalities, their mannerisms, their love of hair pulling....so take a guess. You've got a 50/50 shot of being right. I'll post the answer later.

Climbing Babies

All of the babies are getting very mobile & moving all around which means we have a lot less "free" time.

On Halloween

Ginger (in the back) had been playing in the basket by herself and was not very happy about having to share.

The babies are moving & climbing on anything possible - including us!

I was in the bedroom feeding Ginger & Brian was in the nursery lowering Edison's crib while Daisy & Edison were playing in the living room. Brian kept checking on the babies every 2 minutes. He found Daisy like this- sitting in the vibrating chair with a ball. She had managed to climb up in it while holding the ball, turn around & sit down. She was very proud of herself! Good job Daisy!!!

The girls were napping in the nursery one day when we heard some laughter. Brian snuck in & caught it on tape. They are so funny together. We just can't imagine having only one baby!

Some New "Firsts"

We took the kids on their very first vacation to Yellowstone. Daisy & Edison slept while we packed up the car, but Ginger was all dressed up and ready to go.

We spent one day on a 5 mile hike to Lonestar Geyser. Here is the stroller all loaded up. Notice the camp chairs hanging off the sides. It reminded us of a homeless person's shopping cart all loaded up with our gear.

We were rewarded with 3 spectacular eruptions at our destination. It was well worth the hike & I'd recommend it to anyone visiting Yellowstone.

We did baths in the sink at the cabin, but the babies are really getting too big for that.

Here are Edison & Daisy just waking up the morning. They are all always so happy first thing in the morning.

Here are some fun pictures of the first time they tried real food. We thought we would use their highchairs, but they are still just too little, so the Bumbos won.

The kids are all getting so strong. They can all roll over either way now. Edison is getting so good at sitting and should be doing in on his own any day now. The Occupational Therapist has cut him back to one visit every 2 weeks since he is doing so well. Daisy is our best walker and wants be on the move anytime she gets held. Ginger is the best at scooting and may start crawling soon. Brian has been encouraging this behavior, but I don't approve. I'm not ready for mobile babies yet, after all they are only suppose to be 5 months old!

We just received their evaluations from the state for the Infant/Toddler program. They all tested at or above their age for social and physical development. The good news is that they are all doing so well, the bad news is that they are doing too well to qualify for services.

We realized the other day that since the babies are 4 months old we have now changed as many diapers and done as many feedings as someone with a single baby would in the first year of life. I've decided that all those people who complain about how much work one baby is- are big fat whiners!

Some More Pictures

For everyone who does not know yet- Edison had a shunt placed in his brain a couple of weeks ago to releave some pressure that was building up from excess fluid. As far as brain surgery goes this is pretty routine. We spent 2 nights and 3 days in Salt Lake City at Primary Children's. He was flown from Idaho Falls to SLC on Thursday night- had his surgery Friday morning & was released from the hospital on Saturday morning. He is doing wonderful and we are told that he will have no lasting ill effects.

Homecoming!!!

Last Wednesday Edison was ready to break out of baby jail & his sisters couldn't wait for him to get home.

Here is the first picture of all three together at home.

On Friday the weather was wonderful and we took the babies for a walk. Everyone at the park was talking about our three beautiful babies.

We tried to take some cute pictures of our naked babies, but they weren't really in the mood for a photo shoot. Maybe later?!?

We are just so happy to have all of the kids at home where they belong. We are pretty busy but loving every minute of it!

The Girls Are Home!

Just a Quick Update

The girls came home on Saturday. Everything is going smoothly, but it is very hard to not have Edison with us. He is doing great. He is taking about half of his food by bottle and we hope that he will be joining his sisters in the near future. We spend our days feeding babies, running to the hospital to see Edison, and catching a few zzzzzzzs when we can.

Please be aware that due to RSV season our house is currently under quarantine. If anyone has been sick (even just a running nose), or been around someone who is sick- please do not come to see the babies. We appreciate everyones help in protecting our family.

Baths & Bottle Feeding

All the triplets are doing just wonderful & Mom & Dad are preparing for their homecoming. We will not be surprised to have them home very soon. Edison is now over 5lbs, Daisy and Ginger are both over 4lbs, but with the way Ginger eats she'll probably pass her sister up before we know it. The babes are living in one big crib now & all wearing regular clothes. Edison is off his nasal cannula most of the time and taking about a third of his feedings by bottle. Daisy is still getting a little bit of oxygen, but now taking all feedings by bottle. Ginger is our little champ, even though she is the smallest, she is taking all her feedings by bottle and is on and off her oxygen. We would not be surprised if she is the first to come home.

All the kids are doing great. All three have passed their birth weights. Edison is now 4lbs, Daisy is 3lbs, and Ginger is almost 3lbs. Everyone is getting bigger and stronger, and we cannot wait until we get to bring them home.

Co-bedding

The girls graduated to the step down NICU today, and are now being co-bedded. They look so cute together and seem very happy to have each others company again. Ginger is now breathing completely unassisted. Daisy still has her nasal cannula, but should be off it in the next few days. They both are very close in size and are definitely going to be hard to tell apart. Their hair looks to be strawberry blonde and wavy, but it might be to early to tell.

Here I am making a silly face, but I just love getting to hold the babies. This is first time that I got to hold more than one at a time and it was very nice. They look so cute in their little hats.

Here is Brian holding Daisy. She really loves being held, but is not really sure what to make of the chest hair.

Edison was having a harder day today, so we did not get to hold him. He had to have his PIC line replaced since the first one did not make it all the way to his heart. His tummy was bothering him a little bit and making him uncomfortable, but we did get to visit him and he held on to Brian's finger for a long time. We are looking forward to him feeling better so that he can move upstairs with his sisters.

Skin to skin

Megan got to hold all three babies "skin to skin". Both the babies and Megan seemed to like it a lot.

Everyone is still doing great. One of our Nurses said we have perfect preemies. We got the results of our echo. All three have closed PDA's. Feedings are going good, and we finally have breast milk for them.

Here is a new picture of Edison.

he got his CPAP off this morning, and is doing well. he is on a nasal cannula that adds a little air pressure when he breathes. he is currently getting room air through his cannula. he also has a NG tube, and has been getting small amounts of formula every few hours.

I'm adding a little video of all three babies. they are all breathing room air, but are using a CPAP to assist with respiration. it makes it hard to see their faces, but they might get off the CPAP tomorrow because everyone is doing so well.

It finally happened.

1/23/09 at 11:07 PM Megan delivered. Everything went perfect. We had a huge team for the delivery and initial care of our babies. It went fast and very smooth. A big thanks to Dr Nelson, and the other masked individuals in the room. I don't think it could have gone better. all three are healthy, and seem very unhappy to be out in the world.

So now we have 3 amazing little people we are responsible for.

Its Time!
or at least that is what we think. Our Perinatologist said that now seems to be the right time for delivery. No problems, just some recent increasing in cervical dilation, and steady contractions. We have a lot to do so I need to go. We will be busy for the next few days, so don't be surprised, or offended, if you don't hear from us for a few.

31 Weeks

A Belly Full of Babies

We have reached 31 weeks and are still hanging in there. I have had a lot of contractions with a few days that we worried would be "the day". I am now taking both Nifedipine & Terbutaline around the clock to keep the contractions under control, so I have not been feeling very well at all. Thanks to everyone for the well wishes. We will let everyone know when the babies arrive.

30 Weeks

Very, Very Pregnant!!

We have reached 30 weeks and things are definitely getting a lot harder. I've had to have terbutaline 3 times this past weeks and I'm afraid the end is drawing near. The babies are all doing very well and the outlook is very good regarding 30 week multiples. I have been sleeping a lot more lately and am not really feeling up to talking much, so sorry for being a loner. We will update everyone if anything changes.

28 Weeks

We have reached our first goal!

We reached 28 weeks on Sunday & are now looking forward to our next goal of 30 weeks. We saw the peri on Monday and things are looking relatively good. All of the babies have gained weight - Baby A now tips the scale at 2#7oz, Baby B is 2#1oz, and Baby C is still our runt at 1#13oz. We are excited that they will all be over 2 pounds soon. The babies all have approximately the same amount of water and are now praticing "breathing". My cervix is stable and we are excited that I am still pregnant.

Hospital Update

Still Pregnant

I am happy to announce that we are still pregnant & doing fine. Things are not ideal, but the babies are still growing & we are just trying to keep them in as long as possible. Our boy is now around 2 pounds and are girls are a little smaller at about a 1 1/2 pounds. Of course girls are generally a little smaller & identical twins are always smaller so we are not too worried, but will keep a close eye on them. We will reach 28 weeks in 9 days and hope to make it at least that far.

We will be in the hospital for the duration of the pregnancy so they can keep a close eye on me and the babies. Thank you to everyone for all the well wishes!

A Turn for the Worst

Our New Home

Just a quick update- On Wednesday we had a cervix check with our perinatologist. Unfortunately my cervix had changed substantially since the previous Wednesday, so we were sent straight over to Labor & Delivery and not allowed to leave the hospital. They gave me magnesium sulfate to stop the contractions, steroid shots to help mature the babies lungs, and have confined me to strict bed rest, along with a lot of monitoring. Everything has stabilized and the babies are doing very well. As of Thursday my cervix was measuring a little longer and things are moving in the right direction. We may or may not be in the hospital for the duration of the pregnancy, and hope to know more after our next peri appt on Wednesday. More likely than not, we will not be leaving until after the babies are here.

We appreciate everyone's support & well wishes, but please beware that we are here to rest & relax, so may not always be up for visitors & phone calls. 23 Weeks

Good News

Things are going pretty good. I've had no more trips to L&D and am feeling good, though quite achy and swollen. My perinatologist appt went well today and he said that we couldn't ask for any better at this point. The babies are all gaining weight and very active. Baby Boy A is now 1#7oz, Baby Girl B is 1#6oz, and Baby Girl C is 1#4oz. Baby C has always been our runt, but she is the most feisty. The u/s tech tried to get some pictures since Brian was working & couldn't be there, but they are just too squished to get any good profiles- bummer.

My cervix is still holding strong & I feel encouraged that we'll carry until at least January, but I'm shooting for February. We are going to start going to the peri every week. I'll get my cervix checked every appt, but only do growth scans every 2 weeks. We will be 24 weeks on Friday and am now looking forward to our next milestone of 28 weeks.

Last night, Brian & I watched the National Geographic documentary "In the Womb- Multiples". It was so fascinating! We just got it from Netflix if anyone is interested in watching it.

Happy Thanksgiving!

We had an appt yesterday with our reg OB. Everything is going smoothly again. We have been put on some medication to ward off the contractions and it seems to be working very well. We, also, have some stronger medication in case I have break through contractions, so hopefully we will not have anymore trips to L&D. We are only 8 days away from hitting our 24 week milestone, and I am very anxious to get there. Every week makes such a huge difference at this point. I am so grateful to have made it this far without too many scares.

The trouble has begun!

So we had our first real scare last night, but everything is ok now. Brian was working over time yesterday so I was home by myself and started having contractions around 4pm. He called at 5pm to say he would be home soon but I was starting to get scared because they weren't stopping, so when he got home we called the Dr & they sent us into Labor & Delivery. By the time we got there (around 6pm) I was having contractions every 1-3 minutes. I didn't realize that I was having so many because they aren't painful. So they hooked me all up to the monitors & gave me an IV and terbutaline and the contractions stopped pretty quickly. That drug is nasty though and made me all crazy shaky. We got discharged around 9pm, so it was all over pretty quick.

I had an appt with my peri this morning & everything looks good, but I am having contractions today too. I had one while they were measuring my cervix and it went down to 3.1cm, and then back up to 4cm after it stopped. All of this is normal with a triplet pregnancy- I just have to make sure that I go into L&D if I have steady contractions so they can stop them before they become a problem.

They might give me a preventative drug to take at home if I have more of these episodes. That would be nice, since its kind of a hassle to go to the hospital. Other than that everything looks totally fine. The babies are all doing very well and starting to gain more weight. Our boy is the biggest & he is over a pound now. Yeah!!!

Sorry no new pics this week- we were focused on other issues at the ultrasound.

Its getting cramped in there!

We saw our perinatologist yesterday, and the appt went pretty good, but not as good as we would have liked. Baby Boy A has a couple of small cysts in his brain. They are choroid plexus cysts. Apparently they are pretty common and usually will disappear on their own in the next month or so, but in about 1% of babies with this condition it is an indicator of Trisomy 18. Our boy has no other Trisomy 18 indicators (like heart defects or slow development) but it still hard for me to hear "Trisomy 18" come out of my Dr's mouth. My doc ordered me to stay off google- so I don't freak myself out. I'm trying not to worry about it, after all, there is a 99% chance that everything will be ok.

Its getting harder to get good pictures because the babies are getting kind of cramped in there. Baby A is too far down in my pelvis to be very photogenic, so we just have pictures of the girls.

All the babies are growing steadily. Boy A is about 14oz, Girl B - 13oz, and Girl C- 12 oz. My cervix had shortened about 1/2 cm, so we've officially been put on pelvic rest. Our Dr said that we will definitely be on bed rest at some point, maybe in the not too far off future.

I have seemed to really hit a wall in the last couple of days. Just going to my appt yesterday totally wore me out. I'm going to limit my time on my feet from now on, and see if this helps.

Baby Girl C's Feet

Misbehaving!

We had another appointment yesterday with our reg OB. They gave me cookies while I waited for a room- I love them! 2 weeks ago my uterus measured at 25 weeks and yesterday it was 32 weeks!!! That's quite the growth spurt. They, also, snuck us in for another ultra sound to double check the genders for us. We have confirmation - 2 girls and a boy. The babies were all so active. Baby Boy A was kicking his sisters a bunch trying to get more room, and playing with his penis. He's definitely a boy. Baby Girl B was fighting back & we actually saw her peeing. It was crazy! I didn't think you would be able to see it that way. It was so funny!! Now we know her kidneys work- yeah! Baby Girl C is our most active baby. She is always kicking me or one of her siblings. Her heartbeat is always slightly higher- probably from all the aerobics she is doing! The best thing was we caught it all on DVD. Masturbating and peeing in the womb- it's going to be great blackmail!

This morning I woke up really early & think I was having contractions. I'm not really sure though. They told me that would happen & as long as I don't have more than 4 an hour- not to worry. I only had 2, so I went back to sleep, but today my left hip is killing me!! It feels like Baby Girl B is trying to push my leg out of its socket. I can barely walk. I'm just hoping it gets better by tomorrow since we have the Fireman's Ball to go to. I don't want to be hobbling around like a cripple.

2 Girls & a Boy

Well, surprise, surprise, we had another ultrasound on Wednesday & now they are saying that the identicals are girls, and the fraternal is a boy. Of course we just bought 3 blue cribs last week, so I guess it was to be expected with our luck. We are going to wait unitl our next ultrasound in 2 weeks to get confirmation before we do any exchanging.

All 3 babies are doing very well and growing according to plan. Baby A is about 10oz, Baby B- 9oz, and Baby C- 8oz. Everything is right on schedule. The twins are still not showing any signs of TTTS and my cervix is holding still. We feel very grateful to have not had any complications so far.

The babies are getting more and more cramped so it is getting pretty hard to get good pictures. They are all very active- especially Baby C who really likes to kick me. I am holding up well- I'm just very, very tired all the time. We only got one good picture this week- Baby Girl C.

Three Boys!!!

The verdict is in and its three boys for us. Now the preparations will begin. Our ultra sound went very well, and all 3 of the boys are doing well. The twins are showing no sign of TTTS (Twin to Twin Transfusion) and everyone is growing according to schedule. The pregnancy is very uneventful right now, which is exactly what we what!
